    European Society for Defence AISBL

Why the use of the acronym € in the framework of the European Society for Defence INPA? 1. During a web search, f. ex. via Google, the acronym SED refers to a large number of very diverse expressions, ranging from the Communist Party of RDA to a Linux line editor, to a restaurant and a heating installer. S€D makes our INPA much more visible: it refers immediately and only to it. 2. The euro, our single currency, is the most important transfer of sovereignty in the construction of a united Europe, and the ECB remains the only federal institution in Europe to date. The fact that we use the € symbol reflects our commitment to get the same transfer of sovereignty in the field of defense and security as in the monetary field.

History of European defense and of political Europe

For eleven centuries have happened in Europe unsuccessful attempts to re-establish hegemony. After the feudal chaos, the nation state gave birth to democracy, but made the war much as feudalism. The horror culminated with the industrialization of war.

Since the 1950s, Europe highlights governance rather than sovereignty, the influence rather than power, the network rather than the state, the law rather than force, attraction rather than coercion. It adheres to the international system based on the law and produces texts of universal scope, such as the Kyoto Protocol and the International Criminal Court. It aspires to participate in a multi-polar global governance. All this differs politically Europe from the United States. It must therefore have its own policy for external relations, security and defense.
