Dany Van de Ven
Dany Van de Ven began his 40 year old Air Force career as a Technical Officer on the F104G aircraft in the 1 Fighter Wing All Weather at Beauvechain Air Base. He joined the F16 aircraft program in 1978, taking courses on the different systems of the F16 aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base in California and at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.In 1986 he joined the F16 SPO (Systems Program Office) in 1987 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. In 1998 he was promoted to Colonel, and in 1999 he became the Commander of the 21st Logistic Wing, stationed in the Quarters King Albert I at Evere (Brussels). In 2001, he was also the Commander a.i. of the 22nd Logistic Wing.
Colonel Van de Ven was commissioned to the rank of Brigadier General on 1 December 2001 in order to become for Belgium the Defense-Military Naval and Air Attaché, the Defense Cooperation Attaché and the National Liaison Representative to SACLANT from the 1st of January 2002 in Washington, D.C, for both the USA and Canada. While simultaneously serving as the Defense Attaché and the Air Attaché for Belgium, he was appointed the Dean of the Air Attaché Corps of Washington, DC, representing 102 different countries and assumed this position for 2 years.
Brigadier-general Dany Van de Ven retired from the Belgian Air Force on 01 april 2007. On 02 april 2007 he started to work for Agoria, the multisectoral federation of technological sectors in Belgium, as the Director for Aerospace and the Director for Security and Defence. At the same time he became the Director of the association BSDI (Belgian Security and Defence), the association dealing with space at the federal level, called Belgospace and the association dealing with space at the Brussels region level called Bruspace. Dany became S€D member on 7/2/2016.
