« The Belgian Defense Force Administrator and security expert Colonel Jean Marsia talks about how historical events and current crises are shaping Europe’s future and why a federation could be the key to ensuring peace and stability.
Francis Fukuyama presented the idea in his work The End of History (1992) that after the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union, liberal democracy had ultimately won, and therefore there were no longer major ideological conflicts that could shape the future of the world. He believed that the world was firmly moving toward liberalism and market economies.
However, later events, such as the rise of authoritarian regimes, geopolitical tensions, unrest, and new nationalist populism, have shown otherwise. Fukuyama himself later admitted that his idea was overly optimistic and simplistic. »
